On Wednesday January 6th, Centennial students and staff started the New Year off on the right foot by spending time reviewing the proper way to behave in different locations in and out of school. Throughout the day, Centennial students moved from station to station to listen to and participate in lessons promoting good behavior. Staff members teamed up at each location to demonstrate negative behaviors and with the help of students, then demonstrate the desired behaviors. The students reviewed how the Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be Respectful in the cafeteria, the playground, the hallway, the washroom, and the bus. The students also participated in a new station for bullying and tattling. After reviewing the data that we have collected on classroom and office referrals since the beginning of the year, the PBIS team determined that there was a need to address these issues with all of the students. To promote our PBIS program, school spirit and student safety, every Centennial student and staff member received a Centennial PBIS T-shirt! The entire school was a sea of purple on Wednesday as we all participated in the PBIS behavior booster. The T-shirts can be worn throughout the year to promote Centennial spirit and as an added bonus, the students will wear the shirts on the day of a field trip. This will help all staff members and chaperones to easily identify any Centennial student. A huge thank you to our PATT for providing the funds to help support the cost of these wonderful T-shirts.
