Board members and administrators welcomed Plano High School students to recent Board of Education meetings.
Latinas Unidas is a new club at Plano High School. The group was formed by first-year ESL teacher, Ms. Teresa Gonzalez, and their mission is to inspire and motivate young Latinas to become independent and successful through the attainment of an education. Community/volunteer work, college exploration/preparation and guest speakers who discuss career options are a few of the group's proposed activities.
Two students from Ms. Deb Chatman's Job Shadowing class at Plano High School attended a recent Board meeting and gave excellent presentations about their first semester work experiences. Both students shadowed professionals in the medical field: Hannah Campbell at Valley West Hospital and Andy Porter at Dr. Englehart's practice in Sandwich.
Members of the 2009 Plano High School Boy's Cross Country Team received framed proclamations for their achievements during the season, including 2nd place in the conference meet, 3rd place at the regional meet and participation in the IHSA sectional meet. Also recognized (but not pictured) was sophomore Lizzy Urbina for her 3rd place finish at the regional cross country meet and her achievements at sectionals. Congratulations to these athletes and coaches Andy Shaw and Matt Johnson for their dedication.
Board meetings are usually held the third Monday of the month at 6:00 PM and the public is welcome to attend. Meetings are held in the Board Room of the Plano School District Administration office located at 800 S. Hale Street in Plano.
